As I rushed in, I inhaled the smell of baked goods, and felt like I was in heaven. I had five people in front of me, so I took out my phone and sent a quick text to Sharon, asking if she wanted anything. When I mentioned this little place to her the other day, she said it was her favorite bakery so I thought maybe I should buy a few things for the office too. You know make everyone deliriously happy with chocolate and vanilla. Share the love.

Just when I was typing, I felt someone standing a little too close to my back. I’m the worst in those situations. I could never turn back and yell at some stranger to back off. I would be mortified.

I took a step forward, inching closer to the lady that was standing in front me.

But then the guy that was standing behind me came closer too. I knew for a fact that my face was flushing, and I was thinking of just leaving instead of confronting the douche-bag when I felt him leaning even closer.

Other than pushing the lady in front me, I had no other choice to stay put. I guess today was going to be the first day I screamed at some stranger.

“I missed you, Jade,” the douche-bag whispered.

I closed my eyes, and let the shiver work through my body. Turning around, I found a grinning Noah standing right behind me. His hands in his jeans pockets, he looked quite pleased with himself.

“Stalk much?”

I gave him a half hug, keeping my eyes on his face as he kept smiling instead of answering.

“What are you doing here?” I asked.

“The line,” he said pointing with his head.

Turning I took a few steps forward. Noticing there was only three people I was waiting for now.

Just when I was turning around to face Noah again, I felt his arms go around my waist, and he placed his chin on my shoulder.

“I was going to the bank, and saw you walking toward here from across the street. I hoped you would be happy to see me as much as I would give anything to be alone with you right now.”

I was frozen in my place, trying to hear him through the buzzing in my ears. Did he always have to stand so close, say things like that, and touch me on top of that?

“You did good. I’m happy to see you,” I agreed touching my head to his. “Not that I can really see you from this position.”

“Oh, but I love this position so much, Jade,” he purred.

“Good to know,” I murmured, shifting on my legs. His body shook with laughter.

“Do you have time for lunch?”

“No, I have to get back to the office. This, me buying sugary stuff, is all the time I have.”

I tried to ignore how his chest felt against my back. Tried even harder to ignore what his voice was doing to me when his warm breath fanned my neck like that.

He pulled me fully against him, brushing a kiss against my hair.

“What are you doing?” I protested.

“Why are you so stiff, Jade?” he whispered in my ear.

“I’m not stiff.”

“Yes, you are.”

“What are you five?” I laughed. Then curled my fingers around his forearm. I couldn’t stop myself.

“Are you ready for me, yet, Jade?” he whispered again. This time his voice lower and deeper.

“What the hell are you talking about, Noah? Are you okay?” I tried to turn around, but he kept his hands firmly around me, limiting my movements.

“You are not ready.” I felt his heavy sigh on my neck. “That’s okay. I’ll wait for you.”

I’m an avid reader. Therefore, a big dreamer. I love nothing more than to escape real life to find those very few magical moments in a book. I love how it has the power of stealing your worries away, putting a smile on your face, and of course sometimes making you crush on fictional characters. If I can manage to do even one of those things for a reader, I will be a happy writer.

Publishing my debut novel, I’m Yours is the scariest thing I’ve probably ever done before. However, it is also by far the most exciting thing. I can only hope to become a better writer with each new book.

My beautiful girl (A Golden Retriever) is my sunshine all year around, but I still prefer Fall over any other seasons. Danishes, In&Out Burger, Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, and Peanut Butter M&M’s will always stay as my guilty pleasures, and they can also double as bribes.

I’m still searching for my own happy ending. Until that happens, I’ll live vicariously through my own characters.
