MAYBE IN ANOTHER LIFE
By Taylor Jenkins Reid
ABOUT MAYBE IN ANOTHER LIFE:
At the age of twenty-nine, Hannah Martin still has no idea what she wants to do with her life. She has lived in six different cities and held countless meaningless jobs since graduating college, but on the heels of a disastrous breakup, she has finally returned to her hometown of Los Angeles. To celebrate her first night back, her best friend, Gabby, takes Hannah out to a bar—where she meets up with her high school boyfriend, Ethan.
It’s just past midnight when Gabby asks Hannah if she’s ready to go. Ethan quickly offers to give her a ride later if she wants to stay.
Hannah hesitates.
What happens if she leaves with Gabby?
What happens if she leaves with Ethan?
In concurrent storylines, Hannah lives out the effects of each decision. Quickly, these parallel universes develop into surprisingly different stories with far-reaching consequences for Hannah and the people around her, raising questions like: Is anything meant to be? How much in our life is determined by chance? And perhaps most compellingly: Is there such a thing as a soul mate?
Hannah believes there is. And, in both worlds, she believes she’s found him.
“Life is long and full of an infinite number of decisions. I have to think that the small ones don’t matter, that I’ll end up where I need to end up no matter what I do. My fate will find me.” -Taylor Jenkins Reid
WOW, this is my first book by Taylor Jenkins Reid and it definitely wont be my last!! It was AMAZING. This was such a brilliantly different concept and Taylor Jenkins Reid knocked it out of the park. I have always wondered how our decisions affect our destinies and it we make one choice over the other will our life path change. This book delves into that and tells two completely different stories solely based on two different decisions. Told concurrently in alternating chapters the flow of this book is amazingly easy. I don’t know how Taylor did it but I was never left feeling confused or lost. I was completely vested into each one and had to know what would ultimately happen. Would the storylines cross and the ending ultimately end up the same. Would the choices made take them on totally different directions? It was so much fun to read. I have to say, once I started this book I could not put it down. The characters are so realistic that it makes it so easy to fall in love with them. And the storyline was so unique and beautifully written you cant help but get lost in Hannah’s world.
” When you sit there and wish things had happened differently, you can’t just wish away the bad stuff. You have to think about all the good stuff you might lose, too. Better to stay in the now and focus on what you can do better in the future.” -Taylor Jenkins Reid
All in all this was a breath of fresh air and left me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. I devoured it in one sitting and I am actually a little sad it’s over. I will definitely add Taylor Jenkins Reid to my must read list and I cant wait to dive into her other books.

It doesn’t matter if we don’t mean to do the things we do. It doesn’t matter if it was an accident or a mistake. It doesn’t matter if we think this is all up to fate. Because regardless of our destiny, we still have to answer for our actions. We make choices, big and small, every day of our lives and those choices have consequences.” -Taylor Jenkins Reid
