Growing up on the outskirts of Las Vegas as the daughter of notorious strip club owner, Stephen Knox, and a mother who abandoned her at birth, life was less than kind to a young Antoinette.
After a failed teenage suicide attempt, Toni hit the road in search of a life free of undeserved cruelty and any resemblance to her past.
Years later, Toni is lost in a dead end marriage and makes a painful confession that sends her back to the one place she always wanted to escape. But can she really right the wrongs that haunt her? Toni soon finds that the only place where things stay the same is in your mind.
When her path crosses with David Stark, childhood playmate turned one night stand, she cannot deny the spike in temperature she feels every time he’s near or the scorching dreams that flood her at night.
Digging through the years of heartache, Toni soon finds herself torn between the man she is committed to and the one who has always held her heart. As each layer unfolds before her, she discovers the root cause of her pain. Always believing the source was external, nothing could prepare her for the truth.

Taking my index finger and placing it in my mouth, I slowly licked the top and sides before running my hand across my stomach and into my panties without breaking eye contact. Rolling my head back, I closed my eyes. “Get out.”
“Uh, uh, no way.” He stood motionless as he leaned against the dresser, his eyes fixed on the hand between my legs.
Giving an indignant sigh, I removed my hand and walked over to him. Running the index finger across my lips, inhaling the heady scent, I smiled lazily as his breathing increased. Without a word, I dipped my finger into his coffee mug and swirled it around a few times before giving it a shake and licking off the excess.
Batting my eyelashes, I smiled innocently. “I noticed yesterday you were low on sugar. You’re welcome.”
Rotten by JL Brooks was such a fantastic book!! I seriously could not put it down and read it in one sitting. Toni was freaking bad a$$ and I want to be like her when I grow up . Growing up outside of Vegas with a strip club owning daddy did not make life easy on her. So as soon as she could she got out of dodge and started over. I must say the person she became was so not as fun as the person she really is. Circumstances bring her back home and she really needs to decide if she is going to be the person she tries to be or the person she really is. She is so incredibly strong, sassy and brutally honest that you cant help but fall in love with her. Then there is David, ex hockey player hunk of man who I fell in love with. Holy hotness!!! And he made me laugh out loud too!!! I must say I will never look at a hotdog the same and my absolute favorite line in the book is “hot dog down a hallway” and the scene had me rolling with laughter. Deep down you do see how amazing David really is. This book had some panty melting sex scenes, highly emotional moments and humor all wrapped into one. The perfect equation in my opinion. It also touches on a very serious subject matter in today’s world…bullying. Such an important subject and JL did a fantastic job and brining it to life.
