SYNOPSIS:
A knight in tarnished armor is still a knight.
When you’re a defense attorney in Washington, DC, you see firsthand how hard life can be, and that sometimes the only way to survive is to be harder. I, Jake Becker, have a reputation for being cold, callous, and intimidating—and that suits me just fine. In fact, it’s necessary when I’m breaking down a witness on the stand.
Complications don’t work for me—I’m a “need-to-know” type of man. If you’re my client, tell me the basic facts. If you’re my date, stick to what will turn you on. I’m not a therapist or Prince Charming—and I don’t pretend to be.
Then Chelsea McQuaid and her six orphaned nieces and nephews came along and complicated the ever-loving hell out of my life. Now I’m going to Mommy & Me classes, One Direction concerts, the emergency room, and arguing cases in the principal’s office.
Chelsea’s too sweet, too innocent, and too gorgeous for her own good. She tries to be tough, but she’s not. She needs someone to help her, defend her…and the kids.
And that — that, I know how to do.
REVIEW:
This story will break your heart. It will make you laugh because how can you not laugh at the crazy stuff kids will do. But it will also make you cry happy tears at the end! Jake is someone who is so focused on being the best lawyer that he doesn’t have time for more than a one night stand. And he is okay with that until the day his life flashes before his eyes! (It was kind of funny to watch him sweat it out while waiting for an answer) Chelsea is just all around awesome. How could you not be when you stop your whole life to take care of 6, yes you read that right 6 kids that aren’t yours! You will love reading about how both Jake and Chelsea’s lives change drastically and how they deal with it. And of course we get the pleasure of still hearing about Stanton (that southern boy still made me swoon) and Sofia. The book flowed so well you wont even realize you had been reading so long that the book is actually over! The ending was perfect and I can’t wait for more in this series! I give this book 4.5 stars
